Galloping Foals – Pre School 2

Our Pre-School 2 room is an open plan, free flow environment that encourages children to develop skills and independence to help prepare them for when they go to school. Children usually make the transition into this room at around 36 months dependent on their developmental needs. All seven areas of learning and development from the EYFS are focused on using play, activities, and outdoor experiences. Your child will have a key person to ensure their needs are met and that they are happy and comfortable. Pre-School 2 is an ideal environment for your child to play, learn and grow.

We have a messy and creative area which allows the children to freely choose a variety of craft and mark making activities. Our book corner offers a wide selection of stories that children can browse at their leisure and where we also share story time together using story bags and props. Children have the opportunity to engage in small world play such as playing with the doll’s house and the train track, role-play such as dressing up and booking a holiday in the travel agents. We have a wide range of construction materials, sensory play and messy play. We expand on these experiences by introducing numeracy, literacy, culture and expressive arts such as music and dance. Pre-School 2 enjoy trips out into the community to the local parks, the farm and the library. They like to go on woodland walks spotting different wildlife and learning about the natural environment.

Staff will support you and your child in making the decisions about which school you would like your child to attend and the process of applying for this. Towards the end of the final term, staff will prepare a progress report that will be sent to your childs school to inform them of your childs stage of development and if any additional support would be required. Staff will accompany your child to their new school on induction days to ensure the transition is as smooth as possible. Farmside will also invite school teachers to visit the setting to also support your childs transition to school.

Parents are asked to provide: Nappies/Cream, Wipes, Wellies, Sun Hat/Cream factor 50 and Spare Clothes.
